Landhuis Ascencion — Because Curaçao is more than beaches

Why I like to share this with guests

If you only drive from beach to beach, you see a beautiful part of Curaçao. But not the whole island. That is why I also like to mention places such as Landhuis Ascencion. They remind us that Curaçao has a history and a character of its own that goes beyond sea and sun.

For me, it is exactly this variety that makes a stay more interesting. One day snorkelling and relaxing on a sun lounger, the next day seeing something that makes you curious about the island behind the beaches.

How I see an outing like this

You don’t need to turn it into a big cultural programme. Take your time to look around and read or listen to the story of the place when that is possible. It often gives the rest of the island a little more context afterwards.

So I don’t share this as a must-do, but as a personal invitation to choose something different now and then.

If you would like to go yourself

Once a month, Landhuis Ascencion holds an open day with a market, local art and food. A good reason to go on exactly that day.

Activities, opening times and markets at historic locations may differ per date. Please check the current information from the location or organiser before making a special trip.
