From Villa Cuchita in Banda Abou, some of Curaçao’s best beaches are close by. You do not need to plan an excursion: you get in the car and decide along the way. Here is which bay we choose for what.
Close to the villa park: Cas Abao, Porto Marie and Daaibooi
Cas Abao is our favorite for doing nothing: white sand, a lounger by the sea, some snorkeling in between, and a restaurant and bar nearby. Playa Porto Marie is a calm bay with a double reef, a dive school and walking trails. Daaibooi is a small bay where snorkeling is wonderful. The palapas are free, but you have to arrive early; you can also rent loungers at the snack bar, and Divers Republic offers diving. With a bit of luck you will see a turtle, drawn by the fish auction at the nearby fishing harbor, and there are many pelicans diving into the sea right next to you.
For the view: Grote Knip and Kleine Knip
Grote Knip (Playa Kenepa Grandi) is a public beach with white sand between the rocks and clear blue water. When you arrive, stand at the top for a moment first: the view is part of the experience. Kleine Knip is nearby and also has white sand and turquoise water.
Swimming and snorkeling: Playa Lagun and Playa Kalki
Playa Lagun is a small fishing bay with clear water and no barriers: wonderful for swimming and snorkeling. There is a dive school and you can rent loungers with parasols. At Bahia you eat with a stunning view. Playa Kalki near Westpunt is for those who love clear water, snorkeling and the quiet side of Curaçao.
Turtles and fresh fish: Playa Piskado
Playa Piskado is known for its turtles. You can buy food there, especially freshly caught fish. It is busy, though; we find it too busy and prefer a quieter beach ourselves.
